How do we unleash the full potential of people to address humanity’s most pressing challenges? This question is the guiding force of my career.
It is what led me into the world of organizational development, talent management, learning and development, and leadership coaching.
I started my career as a software engineer dedicated to leveraging technology for community empowerment. After a while, I realized that the greatest challenges to building software are rarely technological. Rather, the challenges tend to be humans.
So, I began training and coaching teams in agile practices. After some success, I scaled the approach by building and leading a team of agile coaches.
Not long after, my attention turned to the organization. I became fascinated with the enabling (or disabling!) power of organizational culture. Seeing that culture is shaped by values, leadership, incentivizing structures, group dynamics, and organizational processes, organizational development became my new focus. I dove headfrist into partnering with business leaders to develop talent strategies designed to fullfill organizational strategy. This led to developing and scaling talent management systems, learning and development, leadership development, and other people experience programs. It felt like I found my professional home.
Most of my career unfolded over 13 years at the Wikimedia Foundation, the global remote-first organization behind Wikipedia. I started Insight Cascades, an executive coaching and organizational development consultancy. While I love working with a wide variety of clients, I miss seeing the long-tail of my work and being immersed in organizational culture. So, I am keeping an eye out for a full time position in the right mission-driven social impact organization.
When I’m not working, you can find me either in the mountains (skiing, hiking, backpacking, fly fishing), on a meditation cushion, in the kitchen, or binging scifi.
